On September 5th, Alex Moazed delivered a keynote address to attendees of the Medical Device Innovation Consortium (MDIC). Each year, the MDIC hosts a public forum to advance medical device regulatory science. At the forum, executives of major medical suppliers meet with representatives of regulatory bodies such as the FDA to develop strategic partnerships and discover opportunities for innovation.
Alex was invited to speak on innovation and platform business models in the medical supply industry. Currently, the industry is threatened by Amazon’s ambition to become a major medical supplier. Amazon Business, the tech giant’s B2B marketplace, has already listed the healthcare industry as a key target. Just this summer, Amazon acquired Pill Pack, an online pharmacy, for just under $1 billion.
What does this mean for the medical suppliers? Alex shared his ideas with the industry leaders gathered at the MDIC. Check out the video below for more!
