Yahoo!’s CEO, Marissa Mayer, recently presented a number of mobile app development tools to a sizable crowd of interested onlookers. These mobile app development tools are being referred to as “Yahoo! Mobile Developer.” They combine the Internet firm’s own advertising services into features that it absorbed after acquiring the analytics startup Flurry Inc. last year for $300 million.
The new mobile app development tool suite is intended to help outside mobile app development experts implement advertisements along with search, video and native advertisements and promotions. The result will be improved tracking and analysis of the mobile app users’ behaviors. The mobile app development tools will also create new methods to share information with outside software technicians.
Mayer delivered a speech while unveiling the mobile app development tools. She made a point of mentioning how mobile technologies are enormously popular at the moment and they will grow even more in the future. It is a prudent move on Mayer’s behalf. She has wisely invested massive amounts of capital in mobile services over the past few years as mobile web access has trended deeply into the mainstream. Mayer stated that the company earned $1.26 billion from wireless devices in 2014. This figure accounts for one quarter of Yahoo!’s total sales.
Mayer assumed control of Yahoo! in 2012 and is now facing increasing pressure to bring the company back to glory. She is banking on mobile app development to help revitalize the business. Between 2012 and 2015, she has transformed Yahoo!’s mobile app development team from a measly 50 employees to a robust 500. This mobile app development team remade most of the company’s apps, ranging from sports to weather and games. Yahoo! Is now attempting to lure mobile app developers to create on the company’s own idiosyncratic platform in order to position itself as the industry’s app leader.
The new mobile app development tools suite is at the center of this revitalization effort. Yahoo Mobile Developer includes five key facets. Yahoo Search in Apps allows for users to be kept in an app with Yahoo search for monetization purposes. Yahoo App Publishing allows for the monetization of an app with native advertisements and video advertisements from Yahoo!, BrightRoll and Flurry advertisers. Yahoo App Marketing helps businesses reach their targeted demographics through Gemini native as well as video marketplace. Flurry Analytics provides no-cost insights from the top mobile app analytics tool. Flurry Pulse transmits app data to selected parties with one SDK.
